As a budding marine biologist, we know you'll be eager to make a real impact in ocean conservation. Our Marine Biology Dive Training: Foundations course is designed specifically for you. You'll gain hands-on experience, essential skills, and knowledge that will set you up to enter a career in marine biology. This intensive training combines sessions in our dive centre training tank, course dives, survey dives, lectures, and online learning.

  • Gain PADI Scuba Diving Certifications: Become qualified as a PADI Open Water and PADI Advanced Open Water diver. You'll also complete additional PADI Specialty certifications in Drysuit, AWARE eco-diver, and Dive Against Debris.
  • Learn conservation practices for divers: Follow responsible diving guidelines, fine-tune your buoyancy control, dive with eco-friendly equipment and interact with marine life responsibly.
  • Conduct Dive Against Debris Surveys: Participate in hands-on conservation, removing litter from the ocean and contributing valuable data.
  • Dive in Marine Reserves in Northumberland and the Borders: Explore amazing dive sites teeming with life and understand the rules that protect them.

Training sessions are conducted in small groups to ensure you get all the attention you need. There are only 4 spots on the Marine Biology Dive Training: Foundations Course.

In the training tank, there'll be a maximum of 2 people with their instructor. When diving in the sea, you'll be in a maximum team of 4 divers with 2 instructors.

The course requires a minimum of 2 candidates to run. You can secure your place with a deposit of £500 which will be refunded in full if a second person doesn't sign up.

No, you don't need any prior diving experience to enroll in Marine Biology Dive Training: Foundations.

This course is tailored for complete beginners and aspiring marine biologists. The comprehensive training includes confined water sessions where you'll learn the basics of scuba diving and build confidence. The focus on buoyancy control, marine species identification, and surveying techniques equips you with essential skills for a career in marine biology. It's a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of marine conservation and science, even if you've never dived before.

You don't need any specific qualifications to enroll in this course. However, you must be at least 18 years old, able to swim and complete a medical questionnaire.

You'll have access to top-of-the-range, modern diving gear, identical to what our Instructor team uses.

The rental of all your dive equipment is included in your training, so there's no need to invest in costly gear right away. However, owning personal items like a mask, snorkel, fins, or even a dive computer can enhance your diving experience.

When you're ready to invest in your own gear, we're here to guide you. The team will help you choose the best equipment to suit your needs, and our divers enjoy exclusive discounts from our partners at The Honest Diver Supply Co.

We've taken care of the diving side of your training, that just leaves the following:
